ABOUT the Executive Director

Charisse Parham

Educational Background; Professional Licensure; Work Experience and Accomplishments: 

In 1990, I received my undergraduate degree in Marketing and Music Management from Mundelein College and my Masters degree in Marketing/Journalism/Music from Roosevelt University in Chicago, Illinois. I completed my Masters degree in 1996. I studied at American and Chicago Conservatory of Music in 1970 completing my certification for teaching music (piano and theory) to elementary students. I completed my final performance in Music at Mundelein College performing , “Nocturne in D Major” by Haydn. 

I am certified with the Illinois State Board of Education to award students with a certificate from the State of Illinois. Since 1998, I have contributed education and piano lessons to help underprivileged children.  Being a non-for-profit business, I have contributed my time in giving free lectures and motivational speeches to grade schools, high schools and colleges/universities. Since 1990 I have been an entrepreneur. I am the executive director of FutureWorld,nfp (non-for-profit) educational institution helping elementary and high school students with homework help and preparing them for standardized testing.  As of present, FutureWorld has grown and now has 25 locations in the Chicagoland area. The educational center is still in existence. As the executive producer in 2009, Chicago Kids Got Talent TV show has aired over 6 shows helping underprivileged youth with professional talent in Chicago. www.fwkids.org  and www.chicagokidsgottalent.org

Awarded recognition in the Who’s Who Among Professional Women in 1980.  I received my Montessori certification from Independent State Board in 1998. I taught  English, Music, Algrebra    and Business Management at Kendall College, Robert Morris University and ESL at Evanston Township High School.   In 1996 at Evanston Township High School I taught ESL classes and adult continuing education. I pioneered the first entrepreneur class , "Become an entrepreneur with little money".

I created a music program that involved intensive training. . Composed the first children's operetta which was performed by the students in 1996.  Appeared on a cable tv station with interview and performing composed music 2009. Composed the soundtracks for a short film called "Go As You Like" in 2010. Opened up a non-for-profit educational,computer and music school in 1998. Other accomplishments as a music composer for media (film, tv, infomercials, commercials) I released my first CD, “A Walk in the Clouds” in 2011. I was awarded an SES grant to tutor students with educational and music needs after school,. I am a member of AFC (Action For Children) through the Department of Human Services. These accomplishments were both made in 2000. In 2011, I spoke at the historical , Daley Center, for the Independence of Kosovo for the Albanian Community in Chicago, Illinois.

 

For my internship, I worked for my professor as a research assistant in telecommunication in 1997. Regarding my musical career, I also worked as an intern for a musician who composed jingles for commercials in 1995.  As a freelance instructor, I have been teaching music and educational courses since 1980.
